Domain name system security and privacy: A contemporary survey

The Domain Name System (DNS) is one of the most important components today’s Internet, and standard naming convention between human-readable domain names machine-routable Internet Protocol (IP) addresses resources. However, due to vulnerability DNS various threats, its security functionality have been continuously challenged over course time. Although, researchers addressed aspects in literature, there are still many challenges yet be addressed. In order comprehensively understand root causes vulnerabilities DNS, it mandatory review activities research community on landscape. To this end, paper surveys more than 170 peer reviewed papers, which published both top conferences journals last ten years, summarizes corresponding countermeasures. This not only focuses threat landscape existing challenges, but also discusses utilized data analysis methods, frequently used address vulnerabilities. Furthermore, we looked into from view point involved entities infrastructure an attempt out vulnerable system.
